Learning Environment

Our state-of-the-art facility is located in a sheltered, park-like setting on 22 acres of land bordered by farmland, Blenkinsop Lake and the Lake Hill neighbourhood. Our students enjoy an ECE designated playground and outdoor spaces that encourage physical activity and an appreciation for our environment.

Our Early Learning Centre brims with energy, light and optimism. Classrooms are bright, spacious and visually stimulating. The classroom environment is designed to provide opportunities for individual, small and large groups of play. A wide range of play, print and art supplies are set up daily, and rotated throughout the year.

The focus of Early Learning is to provide children with a positive first experience in a school setting. A nurturing learning environment supports encourages children to engage with one another and to explore. Play, craft, music and story activities draw from children’s current interests and facilitate the social, emotional, creative, cognitive, linguistic and physical development of each child. Children learn to make friends, communicate and interact in a positive and constructive way through interactions with their peers and with the adults around them.

School Community

ECE and Junior Kindergarten students are part of a larger school community that provides tremendous opportunities for mentorship and cross-grade activities. They have opportunities to experience school assemblies, participate in school events, and engage one-on-one with their older peers. Our mixed-age community also makes for a positive transition to the Kindergarten environment; 3-year-old students spend part of each day with the Junior Kindergarten class and Junior Kindergarten students spend time each week exploring the outdoors with their Kindergarten cohorts.
