Sharing holiday cheer

Merry Christmas 2016 from st_margarets on Vimeo.

Just as the promise of fresh fallen snow brings joy to young people, we wanted to share the promise of a fresh start with those less fortunate.

By doing a digital holiday greeting this year, we were able to take the funds that would have been spent on printing and postage, and donate them to a worthy cause. The Shoe Box Project collects and distributes gifts to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in communities across Canada. For women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families, the holidays can be a particularly challenging time. A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community. Giving back is one of the ways we at SMS can remain connected to issues affecting girls and women, contribute to our local community, and live out our school motto, service with love.

From all of us here at SMS, to our friends, families, and supporters around the globe: we are wishing you all the best of the season and look forward to a new year of learning in 2017.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
