Campus & Facilities

Campus

Our 22-acre campus is located in a quiet, residential neighbourhood less than 15 minutes from downtown Victoria. We are situated in park-like setting bordered by farmland, Blenkinsop Lake, Victoria’s Lochside Regional Trail and the Lake Hill neighbourhood. Our natural outdoor environment provides incredible opportunities for learning and for play.

Senior School: The main Senior School building includes a number of multi-purpose classrooms, four science labs, an art studio, the Guidance Centre and the Grade 12 Lounge. The Senior School also connects to the Athletics Centre and the School’s administration building.

Environmental Classroom: Tucked snugly in a grove of oak trees in the small forest bordering our school is an environmental classroom that provides a space for students to learn through the exploration of elements of our outdoor environment rain or shine.

Greenhouse: Students grow plants and vegetables in our own school greenhouse, which supports the study of local food production and complements the activities in our Culinary Arts Centre.

Athletics Centre: The Athletics Centre includes two gyms, a fitness centre, and stage used for school performances.

Barbara Grant Barratt Learning Resource Centre: The Resource Centre is home to our school library, a number of computer stations, a language lab and the SMS Archives.

The Residence Houses: Four residence houses – Barton, Fenwick, French, and Pearce – are each home to 36 students. Two students share each room as well as a private washroom, and all four houses also have a common space with a kitchen area, TV, DVD player and games.

Alexis Hall: Our dining hall offers hot lunches for all SMS students and provides breakfast, lunch and dinner for our residence students. Alexis Hall also plays host to many community meals and events throughout the year.
