SMS’s After-School Learning Programs are open to both SMS and non-SMS students from Kindergarten through Grade 6. These engaging and educational opportunities are designed to spark curiosity and support skill development. Our diverse offerings include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Arts, and Health and Wellness activities—each thoughtfully curated to enrich both mind and body.
SPRING 2025
Do you like to create things with your hands? Do you want to learn how to make your beaded jewelry? If so, this is the after-school program for you! Try your hand at wirework, beading embroidery, or simply make yourself a beautiful necklace or bracelet.
GRADES | 5-8

Students in Grades 5-12 are invited to join Highland Pacific Golf's after-school program. Led by certified PGA of Canada professionals and tailored to all skill levels, the program guarantees personalized coaching. With a low student-to-instructor ratio of 6:1, participants receive focused guidance to enhance their technique and strategic grasp of the game.

Departure from SMS at 2:30 p.m. and return at 4:30 p.m. Golf lessons are from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
*Ian Holt will take the group from SMS to Highland Pacific Golf. Parents have the option to pick up their child(ren) at the golf course or SMS. We will provide more details.

Do you want to find out how planes stay up? What about how we can get to space? Aerospace engineering might be for you! In this class, we’ll create, test, and refine a variety of flying machines using the Engineering Design Process. Construct a shock absorbing system to protect your astronauts in a lunar vehicle, create your own air-powered rocket to launch into the sky, assemble a model blimp for flight, and more!

Join Craig Wilkinson after school to learn tennis! Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, this program caters to players of all levels. Over the course of 8 weeks, expect a blend of skill-building, gameplay, and plenty of fun on the court.
Program Highlights:
- Ball throwing, catching, and coordination exercises to enhance hand-eye coordination and footwork.
- Introduction and practice of various tennis strokes and grips, starting with static drills and progressing to dynamic ball hitting.
- Engaging tennis-related games that reinforce lesson techniques.
