SMS’s After-School Learning Programmes are open to both SMS and non-SMS students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. These engaging and educational opportunities are designed to spark curiosity and support skill development. Our diverse offerings include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Arts, and Health and Wellness activities—each thoughtfully curated to enrich both mind and body.
FALL 2025
Victoria and District Amateur Basketball Association (V&DABA)/ Night League
Join our Night League Basketball Program for an action-packed season of skill-building, teamwork, and fun! This year, we are offering two age groups: U11 (players under 11 as of December 31, 2025) and U13 (players under 13 as of December 31, 2025). Each team will have one game per week, and practices will take place every Friday from 3:30-5:15 PM for both age groups. Additionally, each group will have alternating Wednesday practices from 2:30-3:30 PM — U11 and U13 will switch off every other week.
Night League will go on for 18 weeks, starting October 6th and ending March 6th. Team sizes will range from 6 to 12 players for U11 and 8 to 16 players for U13, ensuring plenty of playing time for everyone. The registration cost covers coaching, league fees, and insurance. Whether you're new to basketball or looking to sharpen your game, Night League is the perfect place to get involved and have a blast on the court! If you are interested in joining, please read the Parent/Player Code of Conduct and the assumption of risk.
On February 6th, 2026, the U11 team will be the Mop kids for the Women's basketball game at 6:00 pm, and the U13 teams will work the Men's game at 8:00
pm at UVIC.

This program encourages creativity and entrepreneurship as campers create and decorate a variety of handmade goods such as jewelry, bookmarks, and keychains. They will also learn about pricing strategies and how to set up appealing displays. The week culminates in a real craft fair where students can sell their creations to family members and contribute to a chosen cause.

Learn to play tennis after school with Craig Wilkinson. Whether you’re learning the basics of tennis or honing your skills, this program accommodates tennis players of all levels. Skills, play, and fun are all part of the mix for the 8-weeks of tennis.
Program Includes: Ball throwing, catching and co-ordination exercises to improve hand-eye co-ordination and footwork. Introduction and application of various tennis strokes and grips to be used – statically and then dynamically when hitting the ball. Fun tennis related games incorporating the various techniques learnt in the lesson.

WINTER 2026
If you thought knitting was only for grandmothers, think again! Knitting is a fun activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Everything starts with learning the basic knit and purl stitches and building other fundamental skills such as casting on and off. Participants will gain confidence through practice and build towards simple projects. Learning to knit is a calming, mindful practice as well as an excellent outlet for creativity.

Santa is an accomplished seamstress with a special interest in sharing her love of sewing. She has taught many kids over the last 30 years. She has done different courses in pattern design and loves to be creative in this field. At the end of this course, students will be able to read a pattern, lay it out on fabric, pinning, cutting and sewing a cotton top. They will be using a sewing machine under strict supervision. Only one student at a time will be using the sewing machine. All fabric and notions will be supplied.

This empowering series provides street-smart self-defence and personal boundary training for your developing teen, physically, mentally and emotionally, considering all levels of their social circle. Participants will practice conflict de-escalation and physical self-defence through scenario based exercises, focusing on key target areas from standing and on the ground.
Our goal is to leave your child confident, aware and feeling empowered, with basic skills to set, hold and enforce their boundaries in multiple situations. This series addresses sexual assault, harassment, bullying, dating and online safety, in an age appropriate manner.

Students in Grades 5-12 are invited to join Highland Pacific Golf's after-school program. Led by certified PGA of Canada professionals and tailored to all skill levels, the program guarantees personalized coaching. With a low student-to-instructor ratio of 6:1, participants receive focused guidance to enhance their technique and strategic grasp of the game.
